Quartz Countertop Care Guide: How to Clean and Maintain Quartz Surfaces
Quartz Countertop Care Guide: How to Clean and Maintain Quartz Surfaces

Quartz countertops are known for their durability, beauty, and low maintenance requirements. With proper care, quartz surfaces can maintain their shine and elegance for many years in both kitchens and bathrooms.

At Classic Kitchens & Design, we believe that protecting your investment is just as important as choosing the right materials. This quartz countertop care guide outlines simple cleaning and maintenance practices that help preserve the finish and ensure your warranty remains valid for its full period.

1) Daily Quartz Countertop Maintenance

Daily care for quartz countertops is simple and requires only gentle cleaning methods.

For everyday maintenance, use a soft cloth with a mixture of mild soap and warm water. A solution of rubbing alcohol and water can also help keep surfaces clean and streak-free.

Quartz surfaces do not require sealing, so avoid using sealants or harsh chemicals such as acetone. Gentle cleaning products and non-abrasive cloths are the best way to keep quartz looking polished and smooth.

2) Removing Oils and Everyday Kitchen Residue

Kitchens naturally accumulate oils from cooking ingredients such as olive oil, vegetable oil, or butter. When left on the surface, oils can dull the countertop and reduce its natural shine.

To remove oily residue, clean the area with mild soap and water or a gentle alcohol-based cleaner. Products such as Simple Green® All Purpose Cleaner or diluted rubbing alcohol can help restore the natural appearance of your quartz surfaces.

Regular wiping after cooking helps prevent buildup and keeps your countertops looking spotless.

3) Treating Common Stains on Quartz

Although quartz is highly resistant to stains, certain substances may require additional cleaning.

Cosmetics: Soap and water, rubbing alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide (up to 30% concentration) can effectively remove makeup stains. Always wipe away any peroxide residue afterward.

Food colouring: Substances such as coffee, tea, red wine, mustard, or fruit juice can usually be removed with soap and water or a diluted bleach solution. Hydrogen peroxide may also be used for more stubborn stains.

Metal marks: Scuffs from pots or pans can sometimes appear on quartz surfaces. A white latex eraser can gently remove these marks without damaging the countertop.

When cleaning quartz, avoid applying excessive pressure. The natural weight of your hand is usually enough to remove marks safely.

4) Removing Tough Stains and Residue

Some stains may require stronger but still quartz-safe cleaning solutions.

Rust and ink stains: Apply a cloth soaked in oxalic acid or Bar Keepers Friend® to the stain and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes. If needed, reapply but do not leave on the surface for more than 30 minutes.

Hard water deposits: Mineral buildup can create a cloudy appearance. Vinegar or a non-abrasive scale remover can help restore clarity.

Adhesives, silicone, or wax: Rubbing alcohol or specialized cleaners such as Simple Green® or silicone removers can safely dissolve these residues without harming quartz surfaces.

Protecting the Beauty of Your Quartz Countertops

Quartz countertops are designed to withstand daily use, but proper cleaning habits help preserve their appearance for years to come. Gentle cleaning, quick removal of spills, and avoiding harsh chemicals will keep your surfaces looking bright and polished.
