For this funky west coast modern renovation, we worked with Tiffani from Function Interior Design to create a kitchen and ensuite with strong mid-century modern character, warm natural wood tones, and clean contemporary details.

This Vancouver Island kitchen renovation features two-tone walnut and white cabinetry, quartz countertops, built-in appliances, and a waterfall-edge island designed to bring both function and personality into the space.

Two-Tone Kitchen Cabinetry

The kitchen brings together elements of mid-century modern design through its combination of walnut and white cabinetry. The walnut cabinetry is Merit Kitchens Icehouse slab, finished in natural walnut for a warm, wood-forward look.

The upper white cabinets use Merit Tofino MDF doors, painted True White, creating a bright contrast against the natural walnut base cabinetry.

Quartz Countertops & Waterfall Island

The kitchen island features Cambria Rose Bay quartz with a waterfall edge, giving the island a bold, sculptural presence within the room.

For the perimeter countertops, the clients selected Silestone White Storm, adding a clean and durable quartz surface that balances the richer walnut cabinetry.

Ensuite Bathroom Vanity

In the ensuite, natural alder cabinetry brings warmth and texture into the bathroom design. The vanity is paired with Silestone Royal Reef quartz, creating a refined surface that complements the natural wood cabinetry.

In the ensuite we used natural alder for the cabinetry. The quartz countertop is the Silestone Royal Reef.
