About this project.

This kitchen renovation was designed to feel bright, functional, timeless, and comfortable for a busy family.

The traditional kitchen design combines detailed Merit cabinetry, a large island with seating for seven, quartz countertops, brass hardware, a farmhouse sink, and custom storage features that support everyday use.

Updated Kitchen Layout & Function

The practical goal for this renovation was to create a more open and functional kitchen layout.

The new design improves the work triangle, adds more drawer storage in the lower cabinets, and integrates family seating directly into the island. With seating for seven, the island became one of the most important features in the kitchen, supporting meals, prep, gathering, and daily family routines.

Traditional Cabinetry with a Contemporary Feel

This kitchen features Merit Kitchens Nottingham doors, a traditional painted MDF door style with a quarter-inch rounded shaker rail.

The upper and perimeter cabinets are painted Bone, a warm white that pairs well with rich wood tones, green cabinetry, and traditional millwork. The lower cabinets and island are painted a custom green chosen by the clients, adding depth and personality to the space.

To give the cabinetry a more refined, furniture-like look, the cabinets were wrapped with thick designer panels and gables to simulate a face-frame style.

Large Kitchen Island Design

The large kitchen island was designed to provide seating for a family of seven while also adding storage, prep space, and a strong visual anchor in the room.

The custom green island helps define the kitchen and gives the space a distinctive look while still supporting the overall traditional kitchen design.

Quartz Countertops & Brass Finishes

For the countertops, the clients selected Caesarstone Statuario Nuvo, a quartz surface with a subtle marble-inspired pattern.

The quartz complements the warm white cabinetry, custom green island, brass hardware, and traditional millwork without overwhelming the design. Solid brass door hardware completes the cabinetry and adds warmth throughout the kitchen.

Custom Range Canopy & Storage Features

A custom range canopy was built to blend in with the surrounding cabinetry while concealing the exhaust.

Additional storage features include roll-out shelves in the 36-inch pantry, an integrated under-counter waste management centre, a super-susan corner cabinet, and solid birch dovetail drawers throughout.
